A Time Tracking widget makes it simple for employees to log their hours right when they open Leapsome. This eliminates the need to remember when and how long workdays or break times were, allowing for real-time logging instead.

Clocking in
The Time Tracking widget can be found at the top of the page as soon as you open up Leapsome. Clicking on it allows you to clock in and start your work day. If needed, you can also pause your entry by clicking on 'Take a break'. Pausing the entry will automatically kick off the start of your break.
Taking a break
To take a break using the widget, simply click on the time at the top of the page. In the menu that expands, click on 'Take a break' and it will pause your working time and kick off the break. When you start your break, you'll see your work time breakdown by clicking on the 'Work' row. To complete your break and resume the work clock, click on 'Start work'.
Clocking out
At the end of your work day, you can clock out using the widget and clicking on 'Clock out'. Clocking out will require confirmation and will submit the time as an entry to the timesheet. You will be taken to a pop-up window with the summary of your working day and its clocked in work & break times. You'll be able to overview it and make any adjust. Once you're happy with your entry - click on 'Save entries'.
An entry can also be deleted by clicking on 'Delete' in the widget menu.
When you clock out, you can also leave a comment for this specific entry. This section is optional and can be used to inform of any unusual patterns or important notes.
Error states
When clocking out, you might see some error messages informing you of possible discrepancies with your Time Tracking entry. The possible error states you can see are:
- Minimum break duration not met: This means the break period can't be ended until the minimum break duration is met.
- Break rules not met: The break period can't be ended until the break rules are met.
- Maximum number of hours worked per day reached.
- Overtime threshold: An overtime threshold was reached and the work time after this will count towards the overtime balance.
- Maximum overtime balance: The maximum overtime balance was reached and overtime won’t be counted.
- Undertime: Fewer hours than defined in the Time Tracking policy were submitted and undertime is recorded.
FAQs
1. What happens if I end my working day and forgot to clock out in time?
A warning will show up asking whether the clock-out time is correct. This can then be adjusted to meet the correct clock-out time. (is this true?)
2. Can a full-time employee, who has a fixed salary, track their time?
Yes, any employee who has an active Time Tracking policy can track their time.
3. Does Time Tracking influence salary calculations for full-time employees?
No. Tracked time only impacts salary calculations for hourly workers. For FTEs, it is for recording and compliance purposes.
4. Can employees submit a Time Tracking entry on a day outside of their work schedule?
Yes. If the working day is not part of their work schedule, the hours tracked count towards overtime (based on the settings).
5. Can we choose whether paid vacations and public holidays count towards overtime?
Overtime is calculated through compensable hours. Admins can choose whether paid vacations and/or public holidays are included in compensable hours. This means that indirectly, Admins can choose whether overtime includes paid vacations and public holidays.
