Access rights for the Goals module, like all access rights within the platform, are managed through Leapsome's Feature Access Matrix, which gives admins a single place to control permissions across all modules. To view and configure access rights for the Goals module, navigate to: 'Settings' > 'Employees' > 'Feature access matrix'
📖 For a full overview of the Feature Access Matrix, visit: Centralized Access Management (Feature Access Matrix)
In Feature access matrix, you can:
- See which roles have access to each Goals feature (creating goals, editing goal cycles, viewing goal progress, accessing analytics, etc.)
- Toggle individual features on or off per role
Important note about goal visibility
Goals access is determined by both role permissions (configured in the Feature Access Matrix or Access Roles) and goal-level visibility settings (such as goal ownership, contributors, and managed goal approvals). If an admin creates a goal and their admin rights are removed afterward, the user will keep the same visibility to the goal they created even though they no longer have admin rights. Changing role permissions will not retroactively affect visibility on existing goals.
Custom access roles
You can also create custom access roles with tailored Goals permissions to meet your organization's specific needs. Custom roles allow you to grant specific users access to selected Goals features without giving them full admin rights.
📖 For detailed instructions on creating and managing custom access roles, visit: User-Scoped Permissions (Access Roles)
To create and configure custom access roles:
- Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Employees' > 'Access roles'
- Create a new custom role with specific feature combinations
- Define which Goals features users with that role can access
- Assign the role to individual users or in bulk
A reminder on roles
- (Super) Admins have full access to all Goals features by default
- HRBPs can be granted specific Goals access by an admin to manage users, teams, or locations
- Team leads can be assigned by admins and can view goals for the teams they lead
- Managers can view and edit goals for their direct reports (based on goal settings)
- Users can create and manage their own goals (subject to your goal settings / approvals and access configuration)
- Custom roles can be configured with any combination of Goals permissions
