With this feature, users can now answer surveys directly within Slack, without ever leaving the app. Responses are submitted through a step-by-step Slack modal and feed into the same reporting pipeline as answers submitted through Leapsome, so there is no impact on your analytics or results.
This works best for shorter pulse surveys where a quick response is the goal. Because surveys cannot be paused when answered via Slack, it is not recommended for longer surveys or those with many answer options per question. For those cases, completing the survey in the Leapsome app remains the better option.
How to enable Slack answering for a survey
The Leapsome Slack integration must be connected before this feature is available. If you have not yet set this up, please refer to the Slack Integration article first.
Once the integration is active, you can enable Slack answering on a per-survey basis. To do so, open the survey, go to the 'Notifications' tab, and scroll to the 'Slack' section at the bottom. Toggle on 'Allow answering via Slack'.
Once enabled, survey notification messages in Slack will include an 'Answer in Slack' button alongside the existing 'Answer in Leapsome' link, and users can choose whichever option they prefer:
Clicking 'Answer in Slack' opens a modal where questions appear step-by-step and can be submitted without leaving Slack.
Answers are sent directly into the same reporting pipeline as in-app responses, so results and analytics remain consistent regardless of where the survey was completed.
Limitations to keep in mind
Because the Slack modal has a compact, fixed layout, there are a few differences compared to the full in-app experience worth keeping in mind when deciding whether to enable this for a given survey.
Surveys cannot be paused mid-completion in Slack. Progress within the modal is only saved for a limited time, so if a user pauses for too long between steps, they may need to start again from the original notification.
Multiple-choice questions are also subject to Slack's display limits, meaning only a set number of options can be shown on one screen. If a question has more options than Slack can display, the extra options will not appear, and very long answer labels may be shortened. The main question types are supported (such as scales, text, multiple choice, and comments), but the layout and styling will be more constrained than in the full Leapsome app. For surveys with many answer options, long labels, or where a richer experience matters, it is recommended to leave the Slack toggle off and direct users to complete the survey in Leapsome directly.
