How does AI resume parsing work in Recruiting?
When AI resume parsing is on for an application form, applicants on your career portal can upload their resume under 'Autofill from resume'. Leapsome reads the file with AI and fills in the matching form fields. Applicants review everything before they submit, and recruiters can correct values on the candidate profile later.
Applicants don't have to retype what's already in their resume, so applying is faster. Applications are also more complete, because fields applicants might skip are filled in for them. Applicants stay in control: they can edit every field before submitting.
Note: AI resume parsing only runs for applications from your career portal. It doesn't run for candidates you add yourself, for resumes you replace on a profile, or for imports.

How do I turn AI resume parsing on or off?
AI resume parsing is on by default. You can turn it off for forms where you don't collect resumes, or where you want applicants to answer everything themselves.
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Recruiting' > 'Application forms' and open a form.
- On the 'Basic' tab, select or clear 'Enable AI resume parsing'.
- Click 'Save and continue'. The setting applies to every job posting that uses this form.
- Optional: click 'Preview', upload a sample resume, and check which fields are filled in.
To learn more about forms, see Building your application form.
What do applicants see?
- At the top of the form, applicants see 'Autofill from resume'. They click 'Upload file' and choose their resume.
- A message confirms that the form was filled in and asks them to review their answers.
- They check and edit the fields, complete the rest of the form, and submit.
- Parsed values replace anything the applicant already typed in those fields, so it's best to upload the resume first.
- If parsing doesn't work, applicants can still fill in the form manually and apply.
Which fields are filled?
- Filled: Form questions, including standard fields (name, email, phone, LinkedIn) and your custom recruiting fields on the form. This works for text, number, date, yes / no, and choice fields. Choice fields only use the options you defined.
- Never filled: File uploads, the resume field, and currency fields, such as salary expectations.
The AI only uses information that's clearly in the resume. If it isn't sure, it leaves the field empty instead of guessing. Approximate dates become a specific date, e.g., "Q2 2026" becomes April 1, 2026. Values are returned in the language of the resume.
How do I review and correct parsed data?
Empty fields are more common than wrong ones. Check the values when a field drives screening, filters, auto-reject rules, or the employee profile after a hire.
- Open the candidate in 'Recruiting' > 'Candidates' and compare the data with the 'Resume' section.
- Click 'Edit' in the 'Info' section to correct profile fields, or in the 'Application form' section to correct submitted answers and application fields.
- Click 'Save'. The change appears in 'Activity' with the old and new values.
Editing candidate data requires permission to manage all candidates, or to manage assigned candidates through a hiring team role on the job. Some fields are restricted by hiring team role, and anonymized candidates can't be edited.
To learn more, see The candidate list and candidate profile.
What happens to the resume data?
- Parsing runs while the applicant fills in the form, before they submit.
- Recruiters see the submitted answers, not the raw AI output. Leapsome doesn't mark which values came from AI.
- The resume file is processed by an AI model and deleted after parsing. Leapsome doesn't store any extra AI output.
- Turning parsing on or off requires the 'Manage ATS templates' permission, the same as editing application forms.
