The Dashboard Analytics creates an opportunity for Admins to oversee the desired changes and statistics of their organization. Creating custom dashboards furthers this ability by providing an easy and flexible way to create and view dashboards, helping to visualize employee data and gain valuable insights.
Creating a dashboard
To start creating a custom dashboard, navigate to 'Analytics' > 'Dashboards' > '+New dashboard'. In the pop-up window, give your dashboard a title (a mandatory field), select a badge (optional) and give a description (optional). After, choose the visibility of this dashboard by clicking on 'New visibility group'. This will allow you to create custom dashboards with granular visibility, where only selected groups will be able to see the dashboard. You will additionally be able to select what data this group can see. Options are: 'All employees data', 'Specific employees data' or 'Only own data'. If you select 'Specific employees data,' you can use the filter function to define which user's data would show to the group members, or if the group members manage other users, you can select from the dynamic filters:
- Direct and indirect report of the group member
- People that the group member is responsible (e.g., HRBP).
You can create multiple visibility groups.
If a user falls under multiple visibility groups, you can select the setting 'Settings from this visibility group overwrite other matching visibility groups'. This means that this user, affected by multiple visibility groups, when they are in a group with this setting enabled - this visibility setting will take priority and others will be ignored.
Users will only have 'view' access only and cannot make any changes to the dashboard.
Removing a user from the visibility group can be done by clicking on the 'Edit dashboard' and clicking on the three vertical dots next to one of the visibility groups. Then, choose 'Delete'.
Once you set up your visibility groups, click 'Save'. You will land on a new page where you can start adding custom charts and reports by clicking on 'Add report' below or 'Actions' > 'Add report'.
When creating a report, you'll need to:
- Give your report a name. If you don't name your report, we'll use the default name based on the data source. Please note: all dashboards must have unique names. A creation with the same title is not possible.
- Choose a data source. Data source can be your organization's headcount, growth rate, leavers count, and much more. To view what is included in the data source, simply hover over the option in the drop-down and see the tooltip that appears.
- Select one of the six possible visualization types.
- Lastly, choose if you'd like for the report to be split by a specified group of employees.
Once done - click on 'Save'. On the other hand, if you'd like to re-do your report from scratch, click on 'Reset'.
Please note:
- Only Super-admins can create custom dashboards.
- If there are more than 10 groups involved in the reports (ie. Nationalities), the top 10 largest groups will be presented, and the rest will be grouped under "other."
Removing a report from the dashboard
When on the dashboard's detail page, click on the three vertical dots next to the report > 'Delete'. A confirmation pop-up window will show up, if you do want to proceed with the removal of the report, select 'Confirm'. Deleted reports cannot be restored and you'd have to rebuild it.
Editing a dashboard
To edit your existing dashboards, navigate to 'Analytics' > 'Dashboards' > click on the three vertical dots on the dashboard > 'Edit'.
Please note: Editing the pre-existing dashboards titles is not possible.
Deleting a dashboard
To delete a dashboard, click on the same three vertical dots on the dashboard and select the option 'Delete'.
Please note: Pre-existing dashboards cannot be deleted.
Enhanced Currency Filtering for Custom Widgets
Employee Analytics custom widget include currency filtering to ensure accurate and meaningful salary data analysis across your organization.
The importance of currency consistency
When analyzing compensation data across different locations and currencies, aggregating values without proper currency alignment can lead to misleading results. For example, calculating an average salary that combines USD, EUR, and GBP amounts without conversion would produce meaningless insights that could impact important business decisions.
Current currency filtering
The system already enforces currency filter selection for key pre-filtered salary metrics including:
- Fixed annual salary
- Fixed monthly salary
- Hourly wage
This requirement ensures that when you analyze these core compensation metrics, you're comparing like-for-like values in the same currency, providing accurate insights for decision-making.
Extended currency filtering
The functionality extends this same currency filter enforcement to all other salary-related attributes in the "salary and payroll components" section of custom widgets. This expansion covers additional compensation elements such as:
- Paid salary
- Additional compensations
- Other salary-related custom attributes
The only exception to this enhanced filtering is compensable hours, which represents time worked rather than monetary values and therefore doesn't require currency alignment.
Creating accurate compensation analytics
With this feature, when you create custom widgets using salary and payroll components, the system will automatically prompt you to select a specific currency filter. This ensures that all monetary values in your widget are displayed and calculated in the same currency, providing:
- Meaningful average and total calculations
- Accurate comparison across teams and locations
- Reliable data for compensation planning and budgeting
- Consistent insights for leadership reporting
Building multi-currency reports
For organizations operating across multiple currencies, you can create separate widgets for each currency or use the filter options to switch between different currency views. This approach allows you to:
- Analyze compensation trends within specific geographic regions
- Compare salary distributions by currency/location
- Create targeted dashboards for different stakeholder groups
- Export accurate data for financial planning and reporting
This enhancement ensures that your compensation analytics provide reliable, actionable insights while preventing the confusion that can arise from mixing different currencies in the same analysis.
