The in-browser transcription feature lets you record and transcribe meetings directly from your browser, no installation needed. Once the meeting ends, Leapsome automatically processes the audio and generates an AI summary, action items, and talking points, saved to the meeting in Leapsome.

When to use in-browser transcription
Use in-browser transcription when you run meetings in a browser-based conferencing tool and do not want to install additional software.
If you run meetings through a desktop conferencing application (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams as a desktop app), use the Leapsome desktop app for meeting transcription instead for the best audio quality.
Please note: Chrome or Edge are recommended for full functionality. On macOS, only the selected browser tab audio is captured — not full system audio.
Enabling in-browser transcription for your organization
Before users can access in-browser transcription, it must be enabled in the Feature Access Matrix.
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Employees' > 'Feature Access Matrix'
- Under 'AI Features' enable 'Meetings - (beta) transcription' option for the relevant roles
- Save your changes
Once enabled, users with the relevant roles will see the 'Start transcription' option in the agenda tab of their meetings.
How to use in-browser transcription
Starting a transcription
When you open a meeting in the agenda tab within 5 minutes of its scheduled start time, a prompt will appear asking: "Do you want to transcribe this meeting?" You can choose:
- 'Start transcription' - begins the transcription setup
- 'Not now' - closes the prompt; you can start transcription manually later
- 'Don't show this again' - disables the automatic prompt for future meetings
To start transcription manually at any time, click 'Start transcription' in the agenda tab.
Confirming participant consent
Before transcription begins, you must confirm that all participants are aware of and have consented to being recorded. You can do this by:
- Checking the manual confirmation box: "I confirm that all participants have given verbal consent"
- Playing the automated consent audio message to inform participants (if enabled by your admin)
Setting up audio
- Grant microphone access when prompted by your browser
- Select the browser tab containing your video conference and check 'Share tab audio' to also capture remote participants
During the transcription
While transcription is active you will see:
- A timer showing the recording duration
- A status indicator showing "Transcribing..."
- Pause and stop control buttons
- An option to replay the consent notice if needed
After the transcription
When you click 'Stop transcription', Leapsome processes the audio and:
- Converts the audio to text
- Generates an AI summary, action items, and talking points
- Saves everything to the 'AI' tab of your meeting in Leapsome
Restarting a transcription
If a meeting already has a transcript and you want to record again, you will be prompted to choose:
- Start new meeting instance - archives the current transcript and starts fresh
- Extend current meeting - adds the new recording to the existing transcript
- Overwrite - deletes the existing transcript and starts over
