In-Browser Meeting Transcription
The in-browser transcription feature allows you to capture and transcribe meetings directly within Leapsome without needing to install additional software or switch between applications. This feature helps you maintain comprehensive records of discussions, action items, and decisions made during meetings.
How In-Browser Transcription Works
In-browser transcription records audio from your microphone and, optionally, system audio from your browser tab. The audio is then processed to create a text transcript that is automatically saved to your meeting notes in Leapsome. This eliminates the need for manual note-taking and ensures important discussions are never lost.
Starting a Transcription
Automatic Prompt
When you open a meeting in the agenda tab that is scheduled to start within 5 minutes or has already started, you'll see a modal asking "Do you want to transcribe this meeting?" You can choose from:
- Start transcription: Begins the transcription setup process
- Not now: Closes the modal but allows you to start transcription manually later
- Don't show this again: Prevents future automatic prompts
Manual Start
You can manually start transcription at any time by clicking the Start transcription button in the agenda tab. This option is always available during your meeting.
Setting Up Transcription
Consent Confirmation
Before transcription begins, you must confirm that all participants are aware and consent to being recorded. You can do this by:
- Checking the manual confirmation box stating "I confirm that all participants have given verbal consent"
- Playing an automated consent audio message (if enabled by your admin)
Audio Setup
During setup, you'll need to enable:
Microphone Access
- Grant permission when prompted by your browser
- This captures spoken discussions in the meeting
Tab Audio Sharing (Optional)
- Select the browser tab containing your video conference
- Check "Share tab audio" to include remote participants and shared videos
- This feature is supported in Chrome and Edge browsers
Please note: Browser-based transcription works best for in-person meetings and browser-based conferencing. To transcribe audio from desktop applications, you'll need the Leapsome desktop app (coming soon).
During Transcription
While transcription is active, you'll see:
- Timer: Shows recording duration (displayed for the first 10 minutes)
- Status indicator: Animated icon showing "Transcribing..."
- Control buttons: Pause and Stop options
- Consent reminder: Option to replay consent notice if needed
You can pause or stop transcription at any time using the control buttons.
After Transcription
Processing
When you stop the transcription, you'll see a "Processing your transcript and generating summary..." message. The system will:
- Convert the audio to text
- Generate an AI summary
- Create action items and talking points
- Save everything to your meeting notes
Accessing Your Transcript
Once processing is complete:
- The transcript is automatically saved to the AI tab of your meeting
- You'll see a confirmation: "Transcription saved to meeting notes"
- AI-generated summaries and action items become available
- The consent confirmation is logged for your records
Restarting Transcription
If a meeting already has a transcript and you want to record again, you'll be prompted to choose:
- Start new meeting instance: Archives the current transcript and begins fresh
- Extend current meeting: Adds new transcript to the existing one
- Overwrite: Deletes the existing transcript and starts over
