Directly connecting specific competencies set up in the competency framework to your learning path now enables employees to up-competency based on the feedback they receive. It provides intelligent action steps for continuous learning and development, closing the loop between feedback and learning.
When created a learning path, you'll be asked to choose the specific competency/s the path will link to.
Next, when defining who should go through the path in the 'Targeting' section, you'll have the option to allow users to join proactively 'if the linked competencies (selected from "Basic" settings) apply to the user'.
Linking a learning path to competencies allows employees to proactively join learning paths relevant to them based on their individual competency framework (the competencies they are working on) and any individual goals connected to those same competencies.
This can be of high value if the created learning path leads to progress in these specific competencies, or company values, as it can then prompt people to improve those areas.
Where will they see these paths?
Employees that are working on competencies will see the connected learning paths in a few places:
- The first place is in their personal content library, found in the 'Learning' module > 'Your content library' > 'Learning Paths'. Here they'll also be able to filter for specific competencies that learning paths may be linked to. Once clicking on the path, they will be prompted to select 'Enroll'.
- The second place is on their home dashboard under the Notifications tab, where they will receive a notification that a new path has been 'unlocked'.
- The third place is in the context section of a personal development goal they are working on that is linked to the same competency as the learning path. Learn more about development goals here.
How do you link Learning paths to goals?
If a learning path and a development goal are linked to the same competency / skill, the user will see the learning path suggested to them in the 'Goals' module. In any goal, the suggested learning paths will sit on the right-hand side, and the user can enroll in the path. Learn how competencies show up in the Learning module here.
If learning path completion is part of a development goal, a key result or initiative can be created within the goal setup. Users can update the key result or initiative manually as they move through the path, which would update the progress of their goals.
